About This Spot

Stepping into HonduPollo feels like entering a lively neighborhood spot where warmth and authenticity greet you as readily as the aromas wafting from the kitchen. Nestled on Hechinger Drive in Springfield, this unassuming restaurant carries an inviting energy that gently hums with the rhythm of everyday life, embraced by locals who come seeking comforting flavors and genuine connection.

The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, offering a space where conversations flow easily around tables dotted with colorful artwork, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry behind the flavors on the menu. There’s a sense of welcome that invites you to linger—whether you’re dropping by for a quick bite or settling in for a flavorful exploration of Central American home cooking.

Here, every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, embodying the heart of traditional recipes without fuss. The kitchen embraces freshness and made-to-order care, resulting in plates that bring together textures and tastes in a way that’s both familiar and invitingly fresh. From tender bites of chicken paired with crispy plantain tajadas to the complex mix of spices in their saltado, each meal tells a story of heritage and flavors passed down, celebrated quietly but confidently on every plate.

Patrons often find themselves drawn to the comforting balance of hearty stews, lightly spiced pupusas, and sides like yucca fries with crispy chicharron that deliver just the right crunch. The beverage offerings also add a refreshing touch to the experience—whether it’s a cool splash of coconut milk or a vibrantly sweet tamarindo juice that complements the meal’s richness.

HonduPollo’s charm lies not only in its food but in the human moments it fosters—a place where families gather, neighbors catch up, and newcomers savor a genuine taste of Latin American culinary traditions. It’s the kind of local spot where the service matches the friendliness of the neighborhood, making every visit feel like an unfolding discovery rather than a routine dinner.

Very good atmosphere and service. The tacos looked good. The lomo saltado was really good, but not the among the best I’ve had. The beef was a tad chewy and there was a lot of liquid on the plate that left the rice and papas soggy. It was also just a tad too salty. But overall it had good flavor and the presentation was nice. I’d go back, but not for the lomo saltado— I’d try other dishes.

Great little place has been open for just a couple weeks. Great selection of food friendly service very popular with locals. There was a lot of business coming and going while we were there from Latinos. We had four dishes including chicharrones with yuca, half chicken with yellow plantains and steak frites, pollo con tajadas, and saltado mixto. Family really enjoyed it. Food is flavorful. We particularly like the green sauce that came with a couple of the meals. Empanadas were some of the taste just I've ever had we have the chicken one. Total cost was $58 including tax for four full meals and an empanada.

Very authentic and incredible flavors. The vibes and art work are gorgeous! Tons of variety in the menu as well. Everything is made to order, and you can taste the freshness. Highly recommend checking this place out! Baleadas were amazing, so was the lomo saltado (such a classic, and the rice with the sauce is great), but a highlight on the menu has to be the pollo con tajadas.

I absolutely adored the food and the ambiance here! The dish I had went above and beyond my expectations, and the delicious flavors made me so happy and content. It was reasonably priced, and the food quality was top-notch. I ended up coming back two more times because I just couldn't get enough of the amazing food. Not only was the food incredibly tasty and fresh, but it was also of such high quality and perfect for any meal of the day. And the best part is, it's so reasonably priced, which is definitely one of its standout features. The flavors made me feel like I was dining at a fancy restaurant. It was definitely worth every minute, and the whole experience left me beaming.

I waited very long time to try pollo con tajadas and finally found the perfect place. The taste and flavor are amazing I’ll definitely try again. The service was great, very nice and friendly.
